Hi, I’m Alison Vasquez

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a tall Latina born in San Antonio, Texas. I grew up between Tejas, Illinois, and Northern California. I am a director, playwright, actress, theatre instructor, daughter, mother, wife, and lifelong student.

I completed my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre with an emphasis in acting from The Ohio State University. I received my bachelor’s degree (BA) in acting from the University of Northern Colorado. I am owner/operator of Claridad Voice, owner/operator Representation Matters: Actor Training, and served as the founding executive director of Teatro Audaz San Antonio.

My chapter “Representation Matters: The why and how of decolonizing Stanislavski actor training” may be found in Stages of Reckoning: Antiracist and Decolonial Actor Training, Editor Amy Mihyang Ginther (Routledge).

I am passionate about researching and creating cross-cultural, and multi-lingual work for the theatre. Take a look around my website and let me know how we can connect to support each other in the creating of works of art and storytelling.
